Under the Workboat Code Edition 3 (WB3), the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has introduced Annex 2 to address the certification of Remotely Operated Unmanned Vessels (ROUVs) — vessels with no persons on board that are operated from a remote location. Annex 2 sets out comprehensive safety and operational requirements that ROUVs must meet to be certified for commercial use under WB3, in addition to the applicable sections of the main Code.
