This initiative has been led by Mecal Principal Surveyor Alan Cartwright who is also Chair of IMarEST Small Ships Group.

This is also part of a larger initiative to enhance the professional status of marine surveying with levels of professional recognition leading to the ultimate goal of Chartered Marine Surveyor, endorsed by the Engineering Council via IMarEST.
